Assalamu alaikum,

ICLP would like to remind everyone of what to do during these tough times. COVID-19 is a very dangerous virus and is especially so to our very young and elderly community members. Please see the attached document for some guidance on how to protect yourself, your family, and your community from the spread of COVID-19.

As a result of what we see around the country and particularly at the Synagogue in New York, we are asking community members whom have traveled to or from any infected areas to self-quarantine. The virus takes around 14 days to show signs. You may be a carrier without knowing it. The members of the Synagogue were infected by a member who recently traveled, showed no immediate signs, and was among his fellow community members unknowingly spreading the virus. Their entire town is now quarantine as a hot zone in New York.

Anyone travelling by aircraft should be especially vigilant in self quarantine until you surpass the  5.5 to 14 day incubation period. Please take this seriously, you must refrain from going to Jumu’ah if you are either sick or should refrain if you are within the quarantine period. If the state or country sets a mandatory quarantine for our area, the Masjid may be closed as a result until the quarantine is lifted. We will update the community as we have more information. Please reach out to other members of the community as everyone is not on this email distribution.

‘Results:
There were 181 confirmed cases with identifiable exposure and symptom onset windows to estimate the incubation period of COVID-19. The median incubation period was estimated to be 5.1 days (95% CI, 4.5 to 5.8 days), and 97.5% of those who develop symptoms will do so within 11.5 days (CI, 8.2 to 15.6 days) of infection. These estimates imply that, under conservative assumptions, 101 out of every 10 000 cases (99th percentile, 482) will develop symptoms after 14 days of active monitoring or quarantine.”
